Mexican Oriole
I've been trying to get a picture of one of these little guys for a while. They're elusive. Usually all I see of them is a flash of color in the underbrush or among the tree branches.
So, I apologise for the quality of the photograph. I took this from inside, I didn't have time to fiddle with the camera settings to turn off the flash, which is what washed out the colors. These guys are a bright orange.
They are also extremely shy. This one was only up on the porch because the doves and finches were taking a break. I thought about going out another door and trying to sneak around on the porch, but every other time I've done that the birds have taken off.
I'm also not skilled enough with the GIMP (open source Photoshop knockoff) to handle the washing out stuff.
Anyway, I'm glad I got this little snap. Just because I love ya'll so much, I'm going to close with a picture of my niece Dani's first day of school. She's down here now and we are all giddy with joy.
