Annual Fundraising Week at Orcinus

We haven't yet started fundraising on our own behalf here at Group News Blog. (Estimated time of arrival -- April 1.)

In the meantime, we're quite content hitting you up for Darcy Burner, and our good friends at Orcinus (where Sara writes up a storm.)

First, if you're not reading Orcinus, well, wow are you missing out. What are you waiting for?!!

This is our first time supporting Orcinus' fundraising, but it's fully in The News Blog tradition.

Gilly used to support their fundraisers each year. Last year, even with Steve sick in the hospital, Jen had us run a post in support and y'all gave very generously.

Dave Neiwert is one hell of a journalist, as is Sara. Orcinus depends on their annual fundraiser, as Dave explains.

If you didn't know, this is also Orcinus' 5th Blogiversary.

I didn't even know that was a word. (I think Dave made it up.)

Dave's right here in Seattle, as I am. That's convenient for both of us, because it means we can have lunch together any time we want. So far... it hasn't happened yet. We have however, coordinated our schedules around Sara's trips into town from Canada. So we've got that going for us.

So go on... get over there and punch some funds into PayPal. It's quick, easy, and nothing supports independent journalism like cash in the account. Dave and Sara do really amazing writing, and their beat at Orcinus is like nothing else in the blogosphere.

If Orcinus didn't exist, someone would have to invent it. Its voice is that important.
